Ventura Nationals

As you walked thru the gate at Ventura Nationals you were greeted with a gorgeous 1929 Ford Roadster with a perfect paint job. The details on that ride were remarkable, sitting next to the Roadster was a beautifully painted 1965 Buick Riviera over to the right was a bare metal 1937 Zephyr that was really cool and around the corner was a killer Ford Model A you just knew it was going to be a great day.

Southern California is known for its classic cars, and Ventura Nationals is the perfect place to see them. There was a fantastic variety of hotrods, low riders, trucks, motorcycles and all of them were well represented.

Many other rides at the event got my attention. There were two similar-looking bare metal roadsters with details that were amazing. They instantly drew a lot of attention soon as they rolled in. There was an indoor venue dedicated to hotrods; one of the hotrods was a '25 Dodge Roadster that was amazing. Bedlam car club filled up one of the walls with their cool hotrods. All the rides in the Hop-UP room were great. All of the rides throughout the event were fantastic. I'm sure it was difficult for Ventura Nationals to select the cars that won awards.

Along with all the fantastic cars there was many vendors were selling their wares, crafts and other cool stuff. Kent Repoert was one of the vendors at Ventura Nationals he is an amazing artist, his pencil art work is outrageously cool he was selling original artwork and also prints of his originals. Another unique artist that was that was doing some great work was Dallas Suley he restores vehicle license plates his work is remarkable, he can take a license plate that’s been laying in a field for 30years and make it look better than new, it was great checking out all the vendors.

The Hop-Up building was excellent, with some of the coolest hotrods in California. Another indoor venue had a nice variety of cars, pinstripers working on projects, booths with custom crafts, paintings, and other cool merch.

There were three live bands at the event that were a blast to watch. First taking the stage was Jackie Mendez and her crew; they were great. 2nd up was The 40 Acre Mule with their unique sound and style, kinda Rhythm & Blues, Rock N' Roll mix. The lead singer Isaiah Evens the lead was very entertaining.

Then The Delta Bombers from Las Vegas took the stage, and they killed it. I think they drew most of the spectators attending Ventura Nationals over to the stage when they started performing. It's always a blast to see them playing.

It was great seeing the many cars on social media built this year, and to finally see them in person at Ventura Nationals was great. On Saturday, the car show was one of the best car shows in California. Ventura Nationals had the Ventura Nationals Reliability Run to keep the fun going on Sunday.

We all met up at Plaza Park Sunday morning, then headed out on about an 80mi cruise thru the hills around Lake Casitas into Ojai with a stop at the Murphy Auto Museum in Oxnard, then over to The Garage Bar in Ventura for lunch. The cruise was fantastic. Even though it was Labor Day weekend, the traffic was light; it was perfect for the cruise.

If you go to Ventura Nationals, go the Friday before there will be get-togethers throughout Ventura. Just make it a three-day event or stay one more day and enjoy the fantastic beaches in Ventura; you will have a blast. Aaron, Holly, and the rest of the Ventura Nationals crew did a great job putting this event together. The 18th annual Ventura Nationals was great, looking forward to next year's event.
