1955 Chevy Trucks, two body styles same year

When I first seen a 1955 Chevy Advance Design truck I was really surprised as it looks like the 1954 Chevy truck, with the big rounded hood and large grille not like the familiar 1955 Chevy Task Force truck that we see around which has more of a flat hood and smaller grille, a truck with a refined tighter look.

Chevy Advance Design Trucks

The new post war Chevy truck that came to market in 1947 was called the Advance Design and was a top-selling truck. There were little changes to the look of the Advance Design Chevy trucks from '47-'53 then in 1954 Chevy changed the grille from the 4 skinny horizontal bars to one large horizontal bar with one vertical bar in the middle and also eliminating the split window making the '54 easily distinguishable from the previous years, the '47-'53 truck which is also my personal favorite body style trucks.

Chevy Task Force Trucks

Chevy continued with the Advance Design body style until March of 1955, thats when Chevy redesigned the body style and they called the new design Task Force Series, with the new stream line look, new style grille, wrap around windshield, hidden running boards and being available with a V8 and 12v electrical system, the new Task Force design quickly became a favorite of many. Now the 1955 Chevy truck is known as the 1st series and 1955 Chevy truck 2nd series. The 1955 1st series truck being available for only a three month period makes the 1st series a somewhat of a rare truck that is often confused with the 1954.

Few other cool Advance Design Trucks like Chevy COE and Suburban
