TROG Flabob Drags

TROG Flabob Drags

The Race Of Gentleman is back and better than ever on the west coast with hotrods, live music, classic car show, and vintage hotrod and motorcycle drag racing. TROG was held at its West Coast home at the historic Flabob community airport in Jurupa Valley, CA, neighboring Riverside, CA; Jurupa Valley was one of the earliest settlements in Riverside County.

TROG Flabob Drags event was a massive success, with participants and spectators packing the venue for the weekend-long event. TROG draws participants who want to race their hotrods and motorcycles from not only the US but from other countries as well.

The atmosphere surrounding the annual event is full of excitement and nostalgia. In addition to the exciting hotrod and motorcycle drag racing, the event also featured live music that kept everyone entertained, the variety of music perfectly complemented the retro atmosphere of the event. The live music adds to the fun of the TROG Flabob Drags experience; it was a party-like atmosphere. Old bi-planes were flying around the event, adding to the nostalgia.

If you brought out your classic car, truck, or hotrod, you could drive in and park in the car show located among the airplane hangers. For anyone that appreciates the work that goes into these cars or is just a fan of classic cars, the car show at the TROG Flabob Drags was not to be missed.

The airplanes, live music, and classic cars are great, but drag racing is the main attraction at the TROG drag race event. The anticipation of the event was tremendous as we were all looking forward to the 2nd annual event at the Flabob Airport.

TROG is known for attracting some of the best hotrods and motorcycles from throughout the US, with many vehicles explicitly built to compete in the races. I was excited to see the flathead-powered rail that was built in 100 days by local hotrodders Johnny Martinez, Lou Stands, and Brett Miller. The 50s dragster came out of Ohio and had its maiden run at The Race Of Gentlemen.

Another impressive build was Tom Eflin's hemi-powered rail from North Carolina; Tom finished the dragster just in time for the TROG drag race event. These vehicles were just a few among the many that were built for TROG and other hotrod race events like RPM Barona Drags or RPM Nationals

Each time you see them race, it becomes evident that their dedication pays off, as the vehicles seem to go faster and faster. Gene Winfield, a legendary figure in the automotive world made a memorable appearance at this years TROG event. Gene is an iconic custom car builder and hotrod enthusiast. Seeing Gene throw down the flag to start a few races was truly a sight to behold. Genes presents reminds us of the rich heritage of these vintage drag race events.
